Where It Started
Growing up, food wasn't just how we ate. It was how we showed up for each other.
My name is Raman Binning. I grew up in a small city with almost no South Asian community around me. That isolation made me hold tighter to the things that still connected me to my culture, and in my family, that was always food.
My mom made food the center of everything. A neighbor had a baby? She was at their door with sweets. Whether a festival, hard day, or good day, food was how love was expressed, how community was built, and how roots were kept alive even when nothing else around us felt familiar.
A daily $8 coffee wasn't sustainable. What frustrated me even more than the price was the ingredients. Cafes and syrup brands charged premium prices while quietly filling their syrups with cheap artificial flavors, dyes, and sweeteners. I wanted something better, so I made it.
I was tired of paying $8 for a coffee every day. More than that, I wanted to bring the flavors I grew up with into my morning ritual. That's how Khana started.

Frustrated by overpriced coffee and premium brands hiding artificial ingredients, Raman started experimenting: cardamom, rose, saffron, chai. The first batch of Vanilla Cardamom changed everything.

Khana launched at Houston farmers markets with four all-natural flavors, handcrafted with real ingredients. Customers kept coming back. That was the validation.
